| If you are a woman writer residing in
Santa Cruz County and would like to be considered for the
29th annual In Celebration of the Muse reading, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 7:30 pm in the
Cabrillo College Crocker Theater, please send five poems, prose poems, or two fiction or non-fiction short shorts to
the address below between August 1st and August 31st, 2010.
You do not necessarily have to read what you submit, but do keep in mind that the total amount of time on stage is five minutes. (We prefer that you not read an excerpt from a longer work.) Each submission will be selected on the strength of the work as a whole, so please be sure that each piece represents your best writing. We are committed to the celebration of diversity with regard to age, race, sexual orientation, and the range of complexities that make up women’s lives. We include a variety of women’s voices and are committed to including new writers each year. We are looking for original perspectives, fresh language, and work that appeals to an audience. All work should be edited, polished and free from typographical errors. Each submission will be selected on the strength of all five poems or prose pieces. Please keep in mind that each year many women submit work for the Muse, and we select the most compelling, vibrant and evocative writing. Do not email submissions, but do include your email address.
