Poetry Workshop with Eva Salzman

Eva Salzman was born in 1960 in New York City,
and grew up in Brooklyn where, from the age of 10 until 22, she was a dancer and later a choreographer.
She was educated at Bennington College and Columbia University, moving to Britain in 1985.
She now lives in London. Her books of poetry are Double Crossing: New and Selected Poems (Bloodaxe, 2004),
Bargain with the Watchman (Oxford University Press, 1997) and The English Earthquake (Bloodaxe, 1992).
Her eclectic background has led to work in cross-arts projects with artists, dancers and singers.
Her teaching workfor children, teenagers and adultshas included projects in Londons East End and a residency at Springhill Prison as well as continuing work for the Poetry Societys Poet in the City and Poetryclass projects and co-devising a Start Writing Poetry course for the Open University. Currently a selector for the Poetry Book Society, she teaches on the BA and MA courses at Goldsmiths in London. The workshop will include writing new work and response to a poem brought in by each participant. Participants should bring to the workshop 11 copies of the poem for which response is desired.
