Matthea Harveys first book,
Pity the Bathtub Its Forced Embrace of the Human Form (2000) won Alice James Books New
York/New England prize, and her second volume, Sad Little Breathing Machine (Graywolf Press, 2004)
was a finalist for the James Laughlin Award of The Academy of American Poets. Her poems have
appeared in such magazines as Denver Quarterly, DoubleTake, Fence, Grand Street, The Paris
Review and The New Republic, among others. Harvey was born in Bad Homburg, Germany, brought
up in Milwaukee, earned her BA from Harvard College and her MFA in Creative Writing from the
University of Iowa Writers Workshop. She is currently poetry editor of American Letters
& Commentary and also on the staff of Bomb Magazine. She lives in Brooklyn.

Neli Moody
is the author of After Altamira (Ishmael Reed Publishing Company, 2006) and a
lecturer at San Jose State University. She received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from
San Jose State in 2006. She has been honored with the Phelan Award in 1987, 2004
and 2005, the faculty-nominated Dorrit Sibley Award in 2005 for outstanding creative
achievement, the 2005 Virginia Araujo Award, administered by the Academy of American
Poets, and the 2006 Marjorie Folendorf award for outstanding achievement in creative
writing. A Santa Cruz resident, Neli is a regular reader in the Monterey Bay area,
has given readings in the San Francisco Bay area, and has served as Coordinator of
Volunteers for Shakespeare Santa Cruz for five years. She has traveled widely,
sailing, scuba diving, rock climbing and flying, and is currently at work on
her second collection of poetry.
