THE FINAL WORD
Turn out the lights. the party's over....once again these past 17 have zipped by and we must wait another 8 months to gather again to put our football knowledge to the test...how about an XFL league??...just a thought..anyway on to the season review, awards, smak, etc....As you may have noticed there is no GM/Cheeze report button on the 2000 review page, as that information is now available through the regular program and you can see the season long statistics on the scores/standings page...it has a nice feature of coulda wins and woulda losts which further illustrate the importance of coaching skills, as they are based on each team in a certain week playing their optimum team..you will notice that Pecker could have had 6 more victories vs. 0 losses, think that might have made a difference in his year??..Pupster also could have picked up 4 more wins...on the other side, lucky guys Trout, Hoops&Son and NoRag were handed 3 extra victories because of their opponents misfortune of starting the wrong guys...kinda interesting..it also shows how many weeks a team had the highest score (Trout led all with 5) and conversely how many times a team had the lowest score (Mayor with 4, though Trout was second with 3 here)...Hoops&Son are the only team with the dubious distinction of not making either..Now on to the post season awards: the Bill Polian GM of the Year award goes to none other than the Pupster with a new PFL record of 16302 points, eclipsing Spuds' 16215 record set in 1995...by the way, in case you didn't notice, this past season was THE highest scoring season in PFL history...Conversely, the Al Davis award for low GM points goes to none other than da Mayor, with 11530 GM points (you had to ask??)...the Andy Reid coach of the Year award goes to Hoops&Son with 85.08%, though that is somewhat tainted by the fact that they also had the 2nd lowest bench points next to Skinny...the Bill Belicheck Cheeze of the Year award goes to, you guessed it, da Mayor with his sterling 70.3%, which he actually improved from a season low of 65.6% through week 12...the only other addition to the PFL record book is the Mayor's name under current longest streak without a weekly winner, which now stands at 25 weeks (no need to worry yet Pupster)...amazingly enough, no new individual records for players were set in this the highest scoring year unless you count Warner/Green, you can see how the players did for the season by clicking on Player Stats on the standings page...now on to the draft review... outside of the injury factor (T. Davis, Galloway, Westbrook, Robinson) the early rounds yielded fairly decent results with the exceptions of draft day busts Jamal Anderson and Freeman in round 2, Pickens, B. Johnson, and K. Johnson in round 3 and about half of rounds 4 and 5...some of the draft day surprises: how about Rod Smith in round 12, A. Green in round 11, and the Trout getting Lamar Smith and Dunn in rounds 8 and 9...well that's about it from here, check in during August for next year's cheat sheet and review leading up to the draft on the Saturday before the season starts, sponsored by this years LOSERS, the South!!..(I finally get to say that)
See you in September...
