Final Word 1999

.

Turn out the lights, the party's over...once again the PFL regular season has come to an all too sudden end, and 17 weeks have seemed to have flown by...Puppy becomes only the second team to win both the total points and SuperBowl titles, edging out Hoops&Son in both...Pecker (Viagra) grabs the third place crown in the points chase, and Pumper finishes 3rd place in points...only fitting, in this the year of the South, in an incredible domination of the North patsies, as they won 23 of the 33 meetings between the two divisions and the North will once again be sponsoring next years draft festivities...(even Spuds was 5-3 over the North)...Congratulations to all winners, you can view your anticipated earnings from the archives, click on the 1999 season review..now on to the awards...the Dick Vermeil Coach of the Year award goes to none other then da Mayor, whose 84.06 coaching percentage was tops, though it is tempered somewhat by his 3118 total bench points (the lowest by far) ...The Mike Ditka Cheeze of the Year award was earned by Spuds, whose 70.12% just edged out Skinny and his 70.80%...the Bill Polian GM of the Year award is presented to HitchPecker, with his league leading 15158 points, including 6013 bench points...the Bill Walsh low GM of the Year award goes to fan favorite PhilZone, with his 11181 total GM points (he also had the lowest total points and potential points) here's to a better 2000 Philly...this was such a crazy year, the draft review is pretty strange also as: 8 of the top 10 picks were either injured or non-factors, and most of the second round picks...Moss, Edgerin, Emmitt, Manning and Faulk were the only gems in the first 20 taken..big busts Favre, Freeman, Owens, Cunningham, Brunell, and Plummer...and then there were the diamonds in the rough...S. Davis in round 11, Dudley in round 13, Elvis in round 14, and the two best kickers of the year, Mare and Vanderjagt taken in round 16...the biggest mid season additions were Beurelein, Rams D, and KC D, two of which propelled Pecker from mediocrity to stardom...shows you that it is never too late to improve your team...biggest fall from grace has to be the ever-humble Skinny, as he goes from SuperBowl champion to 3rd pick in next years draft, and a wild card loss in the first round of the playoffs ...Puppy had the most improved team, jumping up 5 spots from 6th last year to first this year, with Pumper and Pecker  both moving up 4 spots from last years finishes..hope everyone has a good year, and we'll see you all in September, ready for PFL 2K...
