HPV Testing
Dysplasia Evaluation and Treatment

Testing for HPV (human papillomavirus) is now recommended for ASCUS Pap results. This enables us to know which ASCUS Paps are more likely to be or become problematic. It is important to realize and most HPV infections produce no cellular changes, or benign ones that the body is able to take care of on its own. For more information about HPV testing, see "The HPV Test - Is it For You?".

What's Next? The Possibilities:

HPV Test is negative - Continue with regular gyn exams

HPV Test is positive - Colposcopy, and possible biopsy
