Definition: The likely course of a illness and chance of recovery. In regards to cancer, prognosis is determined by cancer type, grade, and stage, as well as individual and genetic factors.

Pronunciation: prog NOE sis • (noun)

Also Known As: "chance of being cured"

Examples: A person with Stage I cancer has a better prognosis than someone with Stage IV cancer.

Common Misspellings: prognosys
