Definition: Treatment with drugs to kill cancer cells. Most of these potent agents are also destructive to other cells, particularly fast-growing ones, such as hair follicles, bone marrow, and the lining of the digestive tract. Most are administered intravenously (by IV).

Also Known As: anti-cancer drugs

Examples: Cisplatin, Taxol, 5-FU cream
